Asian markets trade mix, Wall Street gains
Asian markets are trading mixed on Wednesday even as Wall Street recorded minor gains in spite of disappointing Apple earnings. Market participants will be eyeing the U.S. Federal Reserve meeting results.
Amid a decline in banking and some resource shares the Australian S&P/ASX 200 was down 0.25%. The Shanghai Composite was down by 0.20% while the Shenzhen Composite shed 0.22%.
Singapore’s Straits Times Index was 0.55% while Taiwan’s Taiex gained 0.19%.
Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong markets remained closed on Wednesday due to a public holiday. Japan markets will be closed for the rest of the week owing to the Golden Week holiday.
All eyes will be on the U.S. Fed meeting results. The market analysts believe that the US Fed Reserve will keep the interest rates unchanged and will analyse and dissect more economic data. The meeting will likely to give a strong hint about the possible increases in rates in June.
