India opens door to usher FDI in food processing sector

Indian markets are the favourite hunting ground for some the leading companies of the world. Several sectors are basking with FDI as foreign investors are constantly putting their weight behind the surging Indian economy.
A report carried by a leading business daily said that a high-powered team of Indian officials led by Jagdish Prasad Meena, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries is touring Midwest and Chicago and will be meeting some of the high officials Chicagoland food services, logistics and restaurant companies to pave the way for FDI in the food processing industry of India.
The team of delegates will try to fetch FDI from the foreign market and will also highlight the newly rolled out policies of the government that clearly promotes a better investment atmosphere within the country, divulged the news report.
Indian Consulate in an official statement said, that the meeting of Meena with the foreign officials representing the Chicagoland food services was extremely fruitful. The Indian team is also scheduled to meet Sensient, Griffith Foods, and Ingredion during their stay.
Narendra Modi led government has recently liberalised FDI regulations and allowed 100 percent FDI in in manufacturing of food products and 100 per cent FDI in trading including e- commerce in food products manufactured and produced in India.
