Indian markets now among world’s top ten markets by M-cap
BSE Sensex created history on April 26 by crossing the most crucial 30000 mark. The market capitalisation of the BSE listed companies has now crossed Rs 125 lakh cr. Nifty also touched its all-time high of 9367 on April 26.
With the major indices in the market climbing new highs, Indian equities market are now among the world’s top ten markets by market capitalisation. The benchmark index, BSE Sensex is currently trading at 17.76 times of the forward 12 months earnings. This is seen to be higher than the several major indices in the world, like Dow Jones, CAC 40 of France, German DAX and UK’s FTSE 100.
The Indian market is currently trading nearly at 5% and 40% premium to the MSCI world index and MSCI emerging market, respectively. Generally, Indian market trades at around 30% premium to the MSCI emerging market.
