Live Stock Market Updates: Nifty breaches 9,900; Sensex down by over 200 points
Nifty has slipped below the 9,900 level. Sensex has also dipped by more than 200 points. Bank Nifty index is also trading in negative territory, down by 1.17% at 24,083 level. Canara Bank is top loser in the index trading at Rs 315.5 per share, down by Rs 10.5 per share or 3.22%. Axis Bank, IDFC Bank, PNB and SBI are also trading in red, down by more than 2%.
Other banking stocks including Yes Bank, Federal Bank, Bank of Baroda, IndusInd Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank are down by more than 1% during the early trade. There are 172 advances, 1,387 declines and 399 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong negative sentiments floating in the market.
At 10 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 31,690 down by 214 points, while Nifty is trading at 9,879 down by 84 points. A total of 13 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 34 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down by 1.79% at 15,330, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading down by 2.31% at 15,916.
There is selling activity seen in all the sectors on BSE.
Power Grid, Tata Power, Cipla, Hindustan Unilever and Bharti Infratel are among the gainers, whereas Indiabulls Housing Finance, ACC Cement, Adani Ports, Ambuja Cement and Lupin are losing sheen in the Nifty50 index.
The INDIA VIX is up 1.58% at 13.01.
