Lupin lunches generic oral contraceptive
Lupin has launched Drospirenone, Ethinyl Estradiol, Levomefolate Calcium Tablets, and Levomefolate Calcium Tablets, 3 mg, 0.02 mg, 0.451 mg, and 0.451 mg, respectively, on Monday. The company had received an approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier.
These are the generic equivalent of Bayer’s Beyazs Tablets and are used by women to prevent pregnancy as well as to treat symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) in women who choose to use an oral contraceptive, the company said in a press release on Monday.
According to QVIA MAT in June 2018, the tablets recorded an annual sale of ~US$80.8mn in the US.
Lupin share price is currently at Rs910.10, up Rs2.95 or 0.33% from its previous closing of Rs907.15 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs915 and has touched a high and low of Rs918.50 and Rs907.15, respectively. So far, 12,98,879 (NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs41,017.08cr.
