Metal stocks down over 1.5%; Tata Steel falls 3%

Shares of metal companies fell as investors booked profits after Tuesday’s gains ahead of the expiry of March derivative series later today and an extended weekend.

The Nifty Metal Index declined as much as 2% today weighed by losses in shares of Tata Steel, Jindal Steel & Power and Hindalco Industries. On Tuesday, the index had risen 1.8% as concern over global trade war eased.

The Nifty Metal Index was at 3,525 points, down 1.7% from the previous close.

Tata Steel Ltd is currently trading at Rs570.50, down by Rs19.55 or 3.31% from its previous closing of Rs590.05 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs580.60 and has touched a high and low of Rs583.75 and Rs569, respectively.

Jindal Steel & Power Ltd is currently trading at Rs224.85 down by Rs4.95 or 2.15% from its previous closing of Rs229.80 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs227 and has touched a high and low of Rs227 and Rs222.70 respectively.

Hindalco Industries Ltd is currently trading at Rs214.55 down by Rs4 or 1.83% from its previous closing of Rs218.55 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs217 and has touched a high and low of Rs217 and Rs212.75 respectively.

Steel Authority of India Ltd is currently trading at Rs71.95 down by Rs1.25 or 1.71% from its previous closing of Rs73.20 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs72.60 and has touched a high and low of Rs72.60 and Rs71.30 respectively.
