Nifty Cues from Derivatives Market

Nifty Jan futures which is expiring at 25 January 2017 closed at a premium of 10.90 points versus a premium 13.30 points and Rs 3 lakh cr was the total Open Interest in the market after addition of Rs 9425 cr

On the first day of the week, the markets remained volatile but managed to close on a positive note. Nifty closed at 8391.50 level, up by 42.15 points or 0.5%. Sensex closed at 27117.34 level, up by 82.84 points or 0.31%.

On the sectoral front on NSE, Nifty Metal was leading with gains of 2.74%, followed by Media and FMCG index. Pharma sector remained under pressure throughout the day. Investors remained cautious ahead of expiry of derivatives market on January 25 and Union Budget 2017 to be presented on February 1.
