Sun Pharma recalls Metformin HCL in the US
This is a voluntary and small sized drug recall hence expect no major impact on Sun Pharma.
As per the USFDA website, Sun Pharma is recalling Metformin HCL ER tablets, USP, 500 mg in the US market. The drug is manufactured at Sun Pharma’s Halol facility. This is a company initiated voluntary drug recall due to the presence of the foreign substance i.e. a piece of rubber glove detected in one tablet. This is a class II type recall, which means that the product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences, hence not very severe in nature.
Note that the Halol facility has only recently got a clearance from the USFDA. The recall is small and is voluntary in nature, hence we do not expect major negative impact on Sun Pharma’s share price today.
