US markets update
US markets remained mixed on Tuesday after retail stocks in US witnessed steep fall capping gains of the broader market indices.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose just 5.28 points to end the day at 21,998.99. The S&P 500 closed 0.05% lower at 2,464.61, with telecommunications lagging. The Nasdaq composite fell 0.1% to 6,333.01.
The SPDR S&P Retail ETF (XRT) fell 2.7%, with shares of Advance Auto Parts posting their worst day ever after posting weaker-than-expected earnings. The Empire State manufacturing index spiked to 25.2 in August from just 9.8 in July. The benchmark 10-year yield rose to 2.26%.
Investors also breathed a sigh of relief after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said he would wait for further action out of the US before making a decision surrounding a missile strike on Guam.
