US stocks mostly end flat; Xi-Trump meeting eyed
US markets closed mostly flat on Tuesday, even as market participants kept an eye on a key meeting between President, Donald Trump and Chinese President, Xi Jinping.
The S&P 500 Index closed in green, up by 1.3 points or 0.06%. The energy stocks outperformed whereas real estate stocks lagged. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) ended higher by 39 points or 0.07%. Caterpillar contributed the most to the index’s gains on Tuesday.Equity Tips
Chinese Premier, Xi Jinping and US President, Donald Trump, will be meeting on Thursday and Friday. Trump in the previous week had tweeted “we can’t have massive trade deficits and job losses”.
Trump in his election campaign has promised U.S. would renegotiate trade deals.
For the month of February, the U.S. trade deficit narrowed to $43.56.
